1 Year Old Lychee Cheese Cake | Happy Birthday to My Nephew

This is the first birthday cake for him in his life. Bake by me!!! So proud of me... A simple Lychee Cheese Cake with my own creation and with symbol "1" representing his age. This time I choose to use Australia brand cream cheese, it is cheaper (half the price) compare to Philadelphia brand cream cheese. Conclusion, I will use back Philadelphia for the next cheese cake as I prefer heavier taste cheese. Australia brand cream cheese Fresh cream that I used for this cake, taste not so sweet, quite nice. "Value Pride......" Value Pride fresh cream Next, let's see how I assembled the "1" year old cake. Firstly, bake a square shape sponge cake. (recipe refer here). To make the number "1" shape, cut the square cake and arrange according to the diagram shows below. Cut horizontally into half to spread cream cheese and lychee. Arrange and decorate accordingly. I found this Char Koay Kak (炒粿角) at Bringchang Pasar Malam (night market), Cameron Highland. It is a typical Char Koay Kak, which is frying together with bean sprouts (豆芽), chives (韭菜) and egg.

Are you looking for something cheap in Japan? Of course, the “something” here means FOOD. Well, I think most of the people know that dining in Japan is not cheap, but if you are good in dig hole (korek lubang), you can actually get a cheap meal too. One of the “hole” I found is to walk around “super market” (I used to call those convenient market/mini market/super market hampalang (all) as super market), most of the “super market” selling bento 弁当 (lunch box). When come to certain time, few hours before the food is expired, they will have discount on the bento. Grab one!

Yakiniku 焼肉 is a Japanese term, meaning grilled meat. It is a Japanese style of cooking meat over flame of wood charcoals carbonized by dry distillation or gas or electric grill. To some other country, Yakiniku is referred as Japanese barbecue or Korean barbecue.

Chou Shun Kan 长春馆 is a restaurant located at Krystal Point, Penang. Last weekend, we were searching around Bayan Lepas area to have dinner and celebrate our anniversary. Somehow, we reached Krystal Point and noticed few restaurants there. Few restaurants which are actually attracted our attention. Chou Shun Kan is one of them. After make some consideration, we decided to dine at Chou Shun Kan due to the special food they served, Beef! The good environment and “grill your own” style also the reasons we dine there.

The waitress recommended Set A BBQ which is cost RM98++, we refused to take it as it is expensive. We ordered Set G BBQ set lunch which is cost RM25++ and this is more reasonable to us. We actually negotiate for Set G BBQ set lunch although it was dinner time, thanks to the waitress that she is willing to make the set “lunch” for us. Smart doing business!

We ordered two cups of Mugi Cha (oat tea/麦茶), it tasted like mixture of coffee and tea. We loved it.

Other than Set G, we ordered Karubi Kuppa (Spicy Beef Soup with Rice) which is cost RM18.80. It is a bowl of rice served with beef and vegetable, the spicy soup is not very spicy and can be accepted by most people. It was much more delicious than what we expected.

Although set G is cheaper, but portion very small. It is not enough to fill our stomach at all. We make another order, Ton Bala (Pork Brisket) and Kamo (Duck Meat). They are both fantastic! Ton Bala is an oily part of the pork, it is a little crunchy after grilled.

While waiting for the food to be served, we snap some photos. There are fume extractor on top of each table, they are used to absorb out the smell of BBQ. Glad that we do not really smell BBQ after finished our dinner. It was totally a different experience we had there.
