Dinner at いろはかるた Izakaya 居酒屋| Kyoto Japan

Izakaya居酒屋is a place where Japanese gather together for eating, drinking, smoking and talking. To be more precise, it is a place for them to drink, drink, drink and drink non-stop. Since it is a place for drinking, many Izakaya provide drinking buffer (飲み放題 "nomihoudai") package. If you are to order a set package, many of them come with appetizer, main dishes, salad, dessert and some side dishes. The drinks are buffet type and you can choose from soft drink, wine, cocktail, sake and others. Most of them are alcohol. I have visited to many of the Izakaya during the stay in Japan. Most of the times were attended farewell or welcoming party with Japanese colleague. I have no chance to take good photo during dining with them.

Homecook Big and Fresh Scallop | Japan

The picture shows the scallop I bought last week. I found it in the super market near my company (in Japan). It was a fresh scallop, 120yen each, but I get it for the price of 60yen (about RM2.20) after 50% of discount. After wash, I cooked it together with the shell directly above the gas, the shell acts as my cooking pan and the scallop was my main dish Wink . While it was about 80% cooked, I added soy sauce to the scallop and ate with rice after cooked.

This time I must grab the good opportunity to take as many photos as I can to share with our blog’s reader as I believed it is a worth recommended yakiniku restaurant in Japan.

BelgiumWaffle_3I love to eat waffle especially when the waffle just comes out hot from waffle maker and waffle with peanut butter is always my first choice. I have even tried to make my own waffle with my sister in law's waffle maker which bought from Cosway. My homemade waffle didn't turn out as good as those sell outside. To me, good waffle should be crunchy outside and soft inside. Of course the taste should be delicious too.

Recently, I get to know about Belgium Waffle after my first try in Osaka Railway Station, Japan. The strong fragrance from the waffle store caught our attention. We bought a piece of plain waffle which costs 126 yen (about RM4.50). The Belgium waffle was very crunchy and tasted heavenly!Cool

ColdSoba_7Soba is a kind of brown noodles made from buckwheat flour. Cold egg soba is noodles in cold sauce with wasabi, scallions and raw egg.

I have never wanted to try the cold soba here as the egg serves in the cold soba is totally raw. I am afraid of the egg smell if it is eaten raw and dare not challenge myself to eat raw egg except if the raw egg is use to make tiramisu. Tongue out

Somehow, on past few weeks, we stepped into an old soba and udon shop. Since Camus wanted to try something special in Japan, Japan local food, hence we ordered cold egg soba. Unsure about how to order cold egg soba in Japanese, after talking and describing what we wanted to the Taukeh Soh, finally we got what we want.

GomaDango_2Is anyone like the Cha Dango that I shared on previous post?

Now, I would like to introduced another type of dango. As I mentioned before, there are varities of dangos that can be found in Japan, one is the Cha Dango which is made with green tea. The second type of dango that I am going to share now is black and white version of dango. What is the black and white ball ball stick shown in the picture? Well, the white balls are the dangos which are plain dangos while the blacky is kuro goma (black sesame). It doesn's look tempting to me at all, but since there was a free tasting sample, why should I miss the chance Laughing?

Chadango_2Dango is a Japanese dumpling made from mochiko, rice flour. There are many varieties of dango in Japan and normally three to four dango are often served on a skewer. The texture of the dango is very similar to chinese glutinous flour ball (tang yuan), especially the plain dango, not only the texture, the taste is almost close to tang yuan.

On this post, I would like to share on the Cha Dango from Kyoto, Japan 京の茶だんご. It is a green tea flavour dango where only sells in Kyoto area. I have never see this brand of dango in Tokyo.

GomaIceCreamHave you ever try a black ice cream? Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, coffee, mango, orange and some other flavours including rainbow ice cream can be found anywhere and they are very common.

During our visit to Japan Yokohama China Town, we noticed a black colour ice cream. It is now winter season in Japan, but the cold weather does not stop us from trying this unfamiliar colour ice cream. It is a black sesame flavour ice cream which cost 260 yen. Kuro means black and Goma means sesame in Japanese.
