Onigiri Station | Suntech Bayan Baru, Penang

There is a new Japanese food restaurant open at Suntech Bayan Baru, Onigiri Station. Actually it is not newly open but yesterday was our first try there. We park our car at Sunshine Market and walk to the restaurant. Before we arrived at Onigiri Station, my brain already trigger me back to Japan. The fragrance from the restaurant was very similar to restaurants in Japan. This restaurant is quite small and everything is self service. I ordered a set of salmon don, which came with miso soup and green tea ice cream. Free flow of barley tea and RO water are available too.

Kaya Jam Recipe Using Breadmaker

Ingredients:1 cup Coconut milk1 cup Eggs(about 3-4 eggs)1 cup sugarFew pieces of pandan leaves Method:1. Pour all ingredients into breadmaker.(I like this recipe as it calls for 1 cup of each ingredient, so I can use the coconut milk box to measure sugar and eggs, just follow the proportion) 2. Select "Jam" function from breakmaker.3. Start jam making by press on "Start" button.4. Stir in between to ensure jam is well mixed (If needed).5. When done, remove kaya from breadmaker after it is slightly cool. Blend if you prefer soft and smooth texture. When taste, it is more towards "egg" taste, hence Camus added caramel to the kaya, and now it is almost similar to mom's version. Give this recipe a try, the outcome of this kaya will surprise you! Thanks to thelazychef for this wonderful recipe, you can find more tips from here.

Happy Mooncake Festival from MnYfoodtalk

It has been a while since our last update in MnYfoodtalk, it is mainly due to our webpage was corrupted recently (thanks to the previous lousy web hosting company). All the posts were gone and we had to re-build and re-publish all the posts as we do not have a backup for our posts. During the downtime of our webpage, the poor service from the previous web hosting company was really dissapointed us and make us mad. Hence we had decided to change to new hosting company as they provide a better service to us. The two hosting companies did make a big different in providing services to their customers. For instance, the way they reply our requests did make a big different, you can't imagine how a service company can reply an email to their customers in a rude way and blame that the fault is from customers themselves. In fact we knew that was the improper server configuration that brought us all the nightmare and here we have no intention to blame any party, but the rude and irresponsible way of servicing customer from the previous hosting company had changed our mind in continuing to host under their company. So far, we are pretty happy with current web hosting company. One lesson learnt here, BACKUP YOUR BLOG OFTENLY!

Steamed Caramel Banana Cake Recipe

I have overcome another fear on handling caramel last weekend. This steamed caramel banana cake gave me a good practice on cooking caramel as well as steaming a cake. I always afraid the caramel will stick on my pan when it turn brown, but thank God that I have successfully cook it nicely and no burning sugar stick on my pan. Since it is a steamed cake, it's texture is similar to huat kuih/fatt koh发糕. If make it into cupcake, it is just like huat kuih发糕. When my mom ate this, she said it is malai ko马来糕. With her comment, she gave me inspiration to bake malai ko next time.

DurianCheeseCake_2"Is this a durian cheesecake? A piece of durian cheesecake in Continental bakery cost RM7++." My brother ask me this question when I pass him a durian crepe cake that I made few weeks ago.

"Do you think durian can match with cheese cake? Not sure how will it tastes." A sentence made by Camus's mom when she ate the durian butter cake that I baked few weeks ago.

With the questions and statements out from them, I have a strong believed that I must bake a durian cheese cake. To satisfy my baking desire and answer them with actual result.

Due to last minutes decision of making this cake, I have no time to look into my own recipe book, hence I search the recipe from internet. I got it from Kitchen Corner, I have a confident that the recipe I get from this blogger will work well after read through her blog for quite sometimes. I would say that the durian cheesecake tasted superb with creamy and smooth texture. I would strongly recommend this recipe to all of you.

But due to I do not blend the durian, it effected the texture. I would suggest to blend the durian first if you prefer a very smooth texture of cake.

.Quoting Clarence:
my texture turns out to be quite watery and soft instead of thick and solid, i think it could be due to the eggs that makes it very watery.

I notice that when i add in the eggs one by one, the batter turns very watery.

Hi Clarence, If you have added in more durian, the moisture of the cake also become higher. Even worse, if the durian is watery. Try to bake slightly longer to remove the extra moisture
