Fresh Sashimi | Hypermarket Japan

I have just passed my first weekend in Japan. This time I am in Osaka. For my first shopping, I bought a lot of foods, not for one day, but for one week. Since this time I will at here for only 3 weeks, so I bought some to bring back to Malaysia too. On Sunday, I bought a pack of sashimi for my dinner. 6 types of sashimi in a box. Although it is from hyper market, but all are very fresh. I like salmon and prawn the most. Just now, I tried the pre-pack sesame cold noodle. During summer, they have different kinds of cold noodle. This cold noodle is instant pack that I bought from same hyper market. Taste not bad too. Others food that I bought include can coffee, yakult, biscuits, egg pudding that I like so much, fruit juice, milk tea that I miss so much, varient kinds of pocky and more. Caramel egg pudding I wish I can go for next shopping soon so that I can grab for more foods! Japan foods, I miss you so much!!!

Indonesia Layer Cake with Cranberries Recipe

When I looked back my post on Hawflakes Layer Cake, I just realised that it has been more than one year since I last baked my Indonesia layer cake. I bought a can of butter for baking layer cake and kept until it was expired. I quickly grab it to bake for my next Indonesia Layer Cake with Cranberry. This time, I follow exactly the recipe in my blog too, with slight modification, I change the filling to cranberries. For my hawflakes and prune layer cake, I managed to bake a total of 8 layers cake but for this one, I get only 7 layers. It was still very delicious and as good as last two cakes! I spent less than 3 hours for this cake. You can substitude cranberries with raisins too if you like as the taste of cranberries in this cake taste very similar to raisins. Recipe here: (more picture can refer here) Ingredients: 340g tinned butter180g icing sugar (sifted)1tbsp sweet condensed milk 12 egg yolk1/2tsp vanilla essense1tbsp brandy (optional) 100g plain flour (sifted together with mixed spice)1.5tsp mixed spice 4 egg white Some cranberry and red colouring Method: 1. Apom | Wai Sek Kai 喂食街| Chai Leng Park, Perai

If you like to eat something sweet after dinner, this Ah Pom that located at Lebuh Kurau 5 (Wai Sek Kai喂食街), Chai Leng Park is a good choice for them. The stall that selling Ah Pom is owned by a Chinese auntie; she operated this business for more than 20 years. For those who stay surrounding Chai Leng Park should be know about this Ah Pom. Previously, she was selling the Ah Pom at Chai Leng Park market during morning and at Wai Sek Kai (Wai Sek Kai喂食街) at night. Since I was kid (5~6years old), I like it very much already. May be you will ask me "What's so special?", because you can find Ah Pom/Apom/Apong anyway. I can tell you here, the taste is totally different compared to other Indian style Ah Pom/Apom/Apong.

Cendol House | Taman Mutiara, BM, Penang

We had our lunch at cendol house on last weekend. Before that, we passed by this shop house but never give them a try. Since they claimed that "We served best cendol in town", so we give it a try. This shop not only sell cendol, but also laksa, nasi lemak, nasi kunyit with curry chicken. Two of us ordered one each to try. Cendol is ok but this small bowl cost RM2. Santan (coconut milk) taste is not very thick but when mix with brown/coconut sugar syrup, it tasted good. Ingredients in cendol include red bean and cendol.

Today after work, I went to take dinner with my colleagues. We went to a restaurant nearby company to have the dinner, it is called Coco’s (ココス). After about 20 minutes walk from company, we reached the restaurant and start our dinner.

I ordered a set of Chicken Steak with Cheese and Tomato Sauce. It is like Chicken Coated Cheese served in Malaysia. The chicken is soft and tasty but I can’t really taste the cheese. Maybe I am a cheese lover and the cheese taste is not strong enough for me? Well, don’t care, as long as the overall was not bad. Generally, I am quite satisfied with the food.

My colleagues ordered Beef Hamburger Steak. The beef was about 50% cook and you can continue to cook it yourself on top of the “mini hot plate”. The way they served the steak was special and that the reason they ordered this set.

I ordered the set which come with bread and free flow of drink. At first I thought it is garlic bread, but it wasn’t. It was a white bread which was toasted before served. It was a bit crunchy and taste not bad after spread with butter.

How about the free flow drink? There are plenty of choices to choose. First, I make a cup of hot cocoa drink. I always look for hot cocoa drink when I am in Japan. Japanese like alcohol so much but I don’t really prefer alcohol, hence hot cocoa is one of the drinks that I can drink. The hot cocoa in ココスis thick and suits my taste, you can feel the smoothness of cocoa drink when you drink it. I just love it!

Calpis

It is now cherry blossoms season in Japan, hence Cherry Blossoms (Sakura) Tea was a “must try” drink when you are in Japan. I personally feel that the taste is light and not much different if compare to normal “flower tea”. Anyhow, one of my colleagues ran to toilet after she drinks that tea. She was complaining stomachache and blames the tea. Haha, that was funny!

My colleague saw some other special tea, so we make another two, Baked Apple Tea and Tropical Mango Tea. Both are not bad. To me, they also taste almost the same as normal flower tea.

Last but not least, let me introduce another drink which was special make by my colleagues. It was combination of calpis, calpis soda, grape, orange and melon. You both want me to have diarrhoea??

It was a satisfied and enjoyable dinner especially after work for whole day, kind of relaxing when having that dinner.
